Nursery
At Tangmere Primary Academy we have a Nursery Class as part of the school. We have a dedicated and talented Early Years team who ensure that the children have an inviting and inspiring environment for the children to learn within
What sessions can we offer?
- We are able to offer 15 hours per week of free Government funded education from the term after your child's 3rd birthday.
- Our Nursery is a morning ONLY Nursery with sessions running from 8:45 am until 11:45am Monday to Friday, term time only.
- We have the capacity for up to 24 children within our morning nursery sessions.
What does a session look like?
Sessions are carefully planned with the children's individual needs in mind, following the Foundation Stage Curriculum. Staff engage pupils through integrating learning within the children's interests using the approach called 'In the moment planning'. This approach allows staff to observe and interact with the children as they pursue their own interests, while also assessing and moving the children’s learning on.
In the Early Years Foundation Stage there are seven areas of learning. We ensure that the children have access to activities that help the children develop in all of these areas.
Aims
Our aim is to ensure that the children are ready and confident to transition into our Reception class at the end of their time with us.
We introduce and work on the children’s understanding of number through the programme called ‘Ten Town’. Please see their website for more information at https://tentown.co.uk/for-parents.
In the summer term, before the children start in Reception class, we introduce the characters from the Phonics programme Read, Write, Inc (RWI). This supports their understanding of letters and sounds which they will continue to develop once they enter the main school. Please see our Phonics Website page for further information.
Forest School
The children access our on site Forest School regularly with one of our trained Forest School Leaders. Here the children are able to explore the area, develop their creativity with imaginative play and crafts as well as use a variety of tools and equipment.
Nursery Admissions
Unlike the main school, we manage the admissions of pupils into the Nursery Class. Due to funding we are unable to reserve places, however, we are able to record your interest and will contact you the half term before your child is eligible to start. Please be aware that due to funding we can only accept children the term after their third birthday, and not before.
