TTB Geographers
As Geographers we arediscovering our world - and the communities and places within it.
Time to Be Geographers at TPA aims to foster children’s curiosity and interest in the world and the people and communities it is home to. Children will use a range of sources such as looking at photos, diagrams and maps as well as field work skills to make discoveries about the world around them.
As children’s knowledge of the world grows they are able to build their understanding of the relationships between landscapes, environments and communities and can explain how these are formed, how they are connected and how they change over time.
This knowledge is revisited and broadened each year as children study geographical features within their local area, across the UK and Europe and the wider world.
Our geography teaching meets the aims of the national curriculum and ensures that all children at TPA are able to:
- build their knowledge of communities and places around the world whilst comparing them to their own.
- understand the world's key physical and human processes and how they interact
- understand how landscapes and environments are used by communities
- develop their fieldwork skills to discover the world first hand
- communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including maps, symbols, diagrams and written observations
- use their mapwork skills, including maps, diagrams, globes and photos, to discover a range of geographical information
